Smurfette's Loss

Smurfette was so excited that she was pregnant. For a few weeks everything seemed so great; she was thinking about the baby, wondering if the baby was a boy or a girl, and thinking about a new life in the Smurf Village. But then she started having major stomach pain, worse than just morning sickness. She rushed straight to Priscilla to have her find out what was going on. Then the shocker came, Priscilla gave her the somber news that she miscarried. The baby died in Smurfette's womb. The dreams of Smurfette being a mom were crushed. Priscilla said nothing more, but instead just held onto Smurfette while she cried as hard as she could.

I know this is a very sad story, but it does go along with what people at my workplace are going through this month. Week before Valentine's Day, a friend of mine's niece was murdered. Last Saturday, one of our homemakers, Barb [link], passed away. Then her sister Sue had an aunt that passed the day of Barb's funeral. And then I've found out today that a former coworker from another branch of the company died from cancer. February has really been a killer month for us and I'm waiting for it to end WITHOUT it killing someone else we know.
