Kitty in the Morning

Hope you don't mind, , but I replaced the character on top with a kitty cat, because that act of staring at someone while they're trying to sleep looks like what a cat would do.


Shizuru: My poor tired husband has had such a long night at the hospital. He had to first deal with a bunch of E.R patients coming in from what had to have been that seven-car accident that I heard about on the 10PM News lastnight. At least five people were reported as killed at the scene. Anyhow, I got a call on my cellphone that he'd be working with the other E.R staff to help them sort out the swarm of injured patients. One guy had been drunk and was throwing up since he got to the hospital. (Thank you for texting me something like that, Suichi. I really need to know about someone's hangover at 11 o'clock at night.)

He's also got an elderly patient, Mr. Akon Asaki, who's just about on his way out. He also happens to be our backyard neighbor and is a widower at the age of 94. Right now he's under hospice care and is about to die soon. His only son is staying here in Japan until his death, but lives very far away in Indiana, USA. Suichi's been visiting with him everyday for as long as he can.

Then there's a little girl who's got a broken leg and who just-so happens to have down syndrome. Keisha Maru is 8 and happens to be in Sakura's grade in school and is good friends with her. Although, it's a little hard to explain to Keisha that Sakura's fox ears and tail aren't from any disability.

But by the time the E.R mess was sorted out, and those two routine visits, it was 2:30 before I woke up to the sound of Suichi trying to sneek his way into the bathroom for one last whiz and 3 AM before he stripped down to his underwear and crawled in bed.

Now it's 6AM, and time for me to get up and wake up Saito and Sakura for school. Luckily, I've got the day off today. So I'll take care of the cat and let him sleep. I know Snowball is trying to "talk" to him, but I'm afraid her attempts to wake him up are going to be in vain.
